Chinchou is a tiny, blue-bodied piscine Pokémon. It has huge yellow eyes with plus sign pupils, semi-transparent light blue pectoral fins, and stubby feet. A pair of antennas that curl up and over Chinchou’s head are located on its back, where its tail would be. The antennae are made of fins and feature golden teardrop-shaped orbs at the tips.
The faint light from the orbs on Chinchou’s antennae attracts prey. It also flashes its light to communicate with other members of its species and to claim territory. Inside the antennas are energy-generating cells that produce so much electricity that it causes Chinchou to quiver slightly. It can protect itself and shock its victim by emitting positive and negative electricity. Chinchou dwells on the dark ocean bottom, seldom venturing to the surface. However, in the anime, it displayed the capacity to walk on land.
Chincho from Generation 2 Pokedex # 170 Pokemon… He lives in the Johto area and is of the water and electric type. Pokémon Chinchou develops into Pokemon Lanturn after consuming 50 sweets.
