Biology
Combee is an insectoid Pokémon that flies. Its body is made up of three orange hexagonal pieces that seem like honeycomb cells, with two hexagons on top and one hexagon between and below them. Each hexagon features a round, yellow face, two black, oval eyes, and a curving black mouth. The top two faces each feature a single whisker-thin, black antenna with black, oval tips around the size of their eyes in the centre of their foreheads. They also feature a transparent, rounded-triangle-shaped wing on either side that is attached to an orange, domed joint. The top faces’ backsides are yellow and spherical, like the sides of a sphere. The bottom face is the most intelligent of the three and the only one with a complete, insectoid abdomen. This abdomen is yellow towards the tip and has a broad, black stripe near the hexagonal frame. Female Combee feature red, wedge-shaped patches on the foreheads of their lower faces, right below the place where all three faces meet; male Combee lack these markings.
Combee’s three faces each have their own awareness, similar to other Pokémon with multiple heads, such as Dugtrio and Dodrio. For example, each face has a particular nectar preference, and Combee can only fly when the top two faces coordinate their wing flapping. Each Combee’s face trio has been together from infancy.
Unlike genuine bees, the great majority of Combees are male. However, in terms of social behavior, Combees are comparable to bees. They are typically friendly among their own kind. They are typically dangerous to others since they run when confronted. Combee will gather nectar to make Honey everywhere they can from dawn to dusk. Beautifly often causes difficulty by pushing any Combee that gathers around it. Although Combees make honey for a variety of uses, they mostly devour it. Each Combee swarm produces an own taste of honey. Combee will guard their queen Vespiquen while they are not harvesting nectar. They are very persuadable and will never oppose their queen’s instructions. When a Vespiquen feels threatened, its Combee will not hesitate to sacrifice their lives to defend their queen, even if it means fighting or killing the danger. Combees and their queen usually reside in caves and hollow trees in woods and other natural, quiet settings. To feel comfortable in bigger numbers, Combee sleep by forming a hive with other Combee and locking together into a tessellated wall. Teddiursa often assaults the Combee’s nest for the honey they have gathered.
