Durant is an insectoid Pokémon with a steel body divided into three pieces. It has a dark gray ovoid abdomen with a light gray band running around the center and two rings that look like rivets near a jagged seam. Durant’s thorax is significantly smaller, but otherwise similar to its abdomen. The main difference is that there is just one circle instead of two. Its head is round and has the same light gray wrap pattern as the rest of its body. However, it wraps around the skull from front to back. It has huge crimson eyes with sunken black pupils on either side of its skull. Durant has two circular mandibles with which it grabs objects and feeds itself. The mandibles are connected underneath its eyes, in front of its horizontally opening mouth. Two long antennas capped with tiny spheres protrude from its head. Durant sprouts six black legs from its thorax. Except for the front legs, which have two claws at the tip, each leg has one claw.
Durant is a fierce competitor. It exclusively lives in colonies and excavates subterranean mazes that are as complex as possible. It develops steel armor to defend itself against Heatmor, its natural predator. When they are attacked, Durant forms groups and attacks as a whole to keep Heatmor at bay. They also band together to defend their eggs against Sandaconda. Durant, as shown in the anime, loves to consume grass, namely leaves. If harassed, it will attack quickly and violently, but it will not follow intruders after they leave their colony.
