Gourgeist is a ghostly Pokémon that comes in four different sizes: small, average, large, and super. Its body is a dark brown pumpkin with a blazing yellow-orange face and nubby legs carved into the front. The face is made out of two triangle eyes and a grinning mouth, with a little triangular cutout for a nose on top. The pumpkin’s thin brown-orange head protrudes from the top, with brilliant yellow eyes and a little mouth but no apparent nose. Gourgeist has long, pale pink hair that frames its face and has bangs that normally hide one eye. On top of its head is a crescent-shaped brown tuft that resembles the stem of a pumpkin. Their physical characteristics may be handed on to their offspring.
Gourgeist walks the streets of town on a new moon night, chanting an uncanny tune. Anyone who hears its singing is cursed. It has also been seen singing joyously when viewing prey trapped in its arms. The four varied sizes of Gourgiest decide who they take into the afterlife. Small Gourgeist loves to prey on adults by masquerading up as children. The big Gourgiest loves to take youngsters by impersonating adults. The Supersize Gourgeist is not fussy and will attack everyone.
Gourgeist and its pre-evolved form, Pumpkaboo, are the only Pokémon known to know the move Trick-or-Treat.
