Greninja is a frog-like bipedal Pokémon. It is predominantly dark blue, with yellow on the breast, a white triangular marking above each eye, a light blue four-pointed star on each leg, and yellow on the bottom part of its face. It has red eyes with white pupils and a huge, pink tongue that wraps over its neck and reaches behind its head. A fin-like extension runs down the centre of its head, and a similar fin runs down either side of its skull. Its head fins are connected by light blue webbing. Each elbow and knee has a huge, white bubble-like bulge. It has two toes on its rear foot and three on its front feet. Each finger is distinguished by a bulbous tip and yellow webbing.
Greninja moves like a ninja, with elegance and quickness. It confuses its adversaries by moving quickly while slicing them up with weapons comprised of compressed water, most typically in the shape of throwing stars. These projectiles are sharp enough to fracture metal. Mat Block was Generation VI’s hallmark move.
Ash’s Greninja in the anime and any Greninja with the Ability Battle Bond in Generation VII may shift into an alternative form named Ash-Greninja through a metamorphosis known as Bond Phenomenon. Greninja’s skin becomes a lighter shade of blue in this form, while its face develops red stripes and its cheeks and side fins become black, altering shape to imitate Ash’s hair. In this form, its legs get stronger, and it has the power to produce huge Water Shurikens on its back.
Greninja is part of a three-member family.
