Luxray is a quadrupedal Pokémon that looks like a full-grown lion. While its face, rear legs, chest, and the back of its front legs are blue, the rest of its body is shaggy black fur. The hair is longer around the shoulders and tail base, forming a mane on its head. The male has a bigger mane than the female. It features yellow eyes with red sclerae, a short nose, and rounded ears with yellow interiors. When employing its ability, the eyes change color. Each foreleg has three yellow half circles on the back. It has a long, slender tail with a golden four-pointed star at the end.
Luxray possesses extraordinary eyesight that can see through most things and walls, similar to X-ray vision. This skill is used for hunting and keeping track of its progeny. However, using this skill consumes a lot of power. As a consequence, Luxray must sleep for extended periods of time in order to save energy. Luxrays dwell in groups with one male in charge.
