Biology Info

Poliwhirl is a spherical blue bipedal amphibian Pokémon. Its eyes are large and protrude from the top of its head. A black and white swirl covers its tummy, revealing its organs through its thin skin. It looks to be wearing white gloves and has rounder, digitless feet. It sweats to keep its skin wet and healthy when it is not in water. This coats it in an oily fluid that permits it to flee from adversaries. Except for where its swirl is, which is quite smooth, all of its skin feels this way. The swirl on its belly gently undulates, and looking at it causes slumber.

Poliwhirl can go on land, but prefers to remain in freshwater ponds and lakes where it has less natural opponents. It consumes both insect and fish Pokémon. While leaving the water to collect bug Pokémon, it will return and devour them safely underwater. Its swirl is used to induce slumber in youngsters. Poliwhirl’s perspiration contains sticky mucous. When caught, it either slithers away or uses its swirl to put the opponent to sleep.
