Primeape is a simian Pokémon that walks on two legs and has a spherical body covered in light beige shaggy hair. It has triangular ears with pink insides, narrow eyes with tiny pupils, and a pink, snout-like nose, and it usually has a throbbing vein on the left side of its forehead. It has brown limbs and legs with metal chains on the wrists and ankles. This is most likely suggestive of a weight-training strategy. The hands and feet have two toes and no visible fingers, like mittens or boxing gloves.
Primeape is quickly enraged; even a fleeting moment of eye contact can enrage it. When it gets furious, its blood circulation increases. This strengthens its muscles at the expense of part of its wits. Despite its persistent rage, it has strong vessels in its brain that keep it healthy. It will pursue anybody who annoys it and will not stop until it has caught up with its prey. Even if it is roused from sleep, it will groggily pursue whatever roused it. It has been known in some cases to become so enraged that it dies, despite appearing peaceful in death. It has a penchant for bananas in the anime. Mountain primeape may be found on mountains.
