Shellder #090

Shellder is a bivalve mollusc Pokémon that lives within a spiky blue-violet bivalve shell. It has two little black pupils in two spherical white eyes. It uses its tremendously long red tongue to burrow into the sand and sleep nightly, as well as to attract and trap animals. Even when the shell is closed, the tongue protrudes, and pulling on it causes the shell to spring open. Its fragile and sensitive body is well protected by its exceptionally tough shell, which is said to be harder than diamonds and has traditionally been used to manufacture shields. It can create pearls from collected sand, but it usually discards them since they go in its way.

Shellder has an exceptionally intense desire for a Slowpoke’s tail and may form a symbiotic connection with the Dopey Pokémon. After attaching itself to the Slowpoke’s tail, the two metamorphose into Slowbro together. If it connects to the head of a Slowpoke who has a King’s Rock, the two will instead develop into Slowking. Because of these connections, it may go onto land and begin a new stage in its life cycle. Shellder adheres to the forearms and heads of Galarian Slowpoke wearing Galarica Cuffs or Galarica Wreaths in Galar, leading them to evolve into Galarian Slowbro and Galarian Slowking, respectively.

Shellder’s shell turns into a spiny, spiraling cone with numerous layers regardless of the form the two Pokémon evolve into. Sharp teeth form around the rim of the shell to bind it to the developed Slowpoke, and its eyes now protrude from the bottom rim. Shellder will have a crimson gem on its underside and a big horn on each side of its shell in its crown form.

Shellder will occasionally discharge its poison into Slowking’s brain when in its crown form. Slowking benefits from this since it increases the Regal Pokémon’s intellect. Increased venom concentrations amplify this impact, and Shellder is readily aroused into producing more anytime Slowking yawns. Slowbro, on the other hand, becomes lethargic as Shellder’s poison continues to drain nutrients from its host’s body.

Clamp was its trademark move before to Generation III. Icicle Spear was its trademark move in Generations III and IV. Clamping on to an opponent, despite its strong shell, reveals its susceptible portions. As a result, it will only clamp itself to an enemy as a last option. It swims about its undersea habitat by opening and closing its shell quickly while facing backward. Omastar, whose strong jaws were capable of breaking through prehistoric Shellder’s shell, likely preyed on them. Gastrodon is linked to Shellder and its evolved version, Cloyster. Shellder’s contemporary predators include the Kingler, Rufflet, and Bruxish.
