Biology
Sliggoo is a Pokémon that looks like a snail. Its bottom half is bright purple, while its top half is a lighter purple. It features two faint green dots on each cheek, two featureless green eyes, and a single, tiny eyelash above each eye. It has arms that are nubby and undeveloped. Two sets of antenna-like horns protrude from the top of its head; the front horns are little nubs, while the back horns are much longer. On its back, its gelatinous mass creates a spiral shell-like shape. Its brain and other organs are housed inside the shell.
Sliggoo excretes and covers its body with sticky mucus capable of dissolving anything. Because it lacks teeth, it sprays this liquid on prey and slurps it up once it dissolves it. Predators avoid it because its slime can melt through anything. Its eyes have degenerated, rendering it blind. This makes it difficult to distinguish between comrades and prey, and it will sometimes seek to melt its partners. Its four horns function as a radar system, detecting noises and odors. Sliggoo is just concerned with food and will run from its adversaries at any costs.
Hisuian Sliggoo has drooping teal eyes that suggest a melancholy demeanor, and it bears a metallic spiral shell that runs parallel to the ground. It bears one teal spot on each cheek rather than two like its Kalosian counterpart. It tucks practically its whole body within this shell, just allowing its head, neck, and arms to poke out.
When a Hisuian Sliggoo has to travel rapidly, it will tuck its whole body inside its shell, place the shell vertical to the ground, and roll away. It may also float on water because to its shell. The shell is said to have formed as a consequence of Hisuian Sliggoo’s slime combining with Hisui’s iron-rich waters.
Hisuian Sliggoo and its evolutionary ancestors are the only Pokémon known to be able to learn the move Shelter.
