Biology

Smeargle is a bipedal Pokémon with white and brown fur. It has a long tail with a paintbrush-like termination. This paintbrush oozes with paint, and the color of the paint varies for each Smeargle, as well as changing hues in response to its emotions. Green, brown, and red sprites appear in the games, while yellow and blue appear in the anime. Smeargle has a footprint on its back that matches the color of its tail tip. The mark is placed on Smeargle’s back as a symbol of maturity. Smeargle’s head also has a round structure with a point that resembles a beret. It has brown ears that are floppy and a brown collar around its neck. Smeargle’s eyelids and the rings that surround his eyes are both brown. It has two brown bands on its arms and only one on its legs. It has three digits on each of its limbs.

Smeargle marks its territory with paint. Smeargle is known to use over 5,000 different marks. There are Smeargle fans who will pay top dollar to own one. Sketch, its signature move, can also be used to copy moves from other Pokémon. The only Pokémon known to be capable of learning the move Sketch is Smeargle. Smeargle is frequently found in graffiti-covered urban areas.
