Tapu Koko is a Legendary Pokémon that resembles a rooster. Tapu Koko has a black head and body with white patterns on its breast, right above its eyes, and on the top of its skull. A big orange plume extends from the top of its head, with bristles running down the rear. A yellow mark covers the top bristle and half of the bristle underneath it. This crest extends all the way to its neck, where it cuts its face in half and forms a beak-like snout. It has little blue eyes with yellow marks on the back of them. The bottom half of its body is orange, with four pointed projections: one small spine in front, two short spines in rear, and one larger spine in between. These spines mimic the tail feathers of a bird. It has circular, golden structures around its shoulders on its skinny arms. Each arm has a shell that seems to be half of a bird mask, and its hands finish in two huge claws that serve as the mask’s beak.
The mask is mostly yellow, with black, orange, and white accents. When the mask is closed, three white triangular marks with black borders on the top of each side of the mask form diamond shapes. The ‘eyes’ are made up of a white diamond that is linked to a slightly bigger orange diamond that is set within a larger yellow diamond. Each of these shapes has a black border around it. An orange triangle with a white rim may be seen on either half of its beak. On either side, near the rear, there are wing-shaped features. Tapu Koko can pull the mask together and conceal its top body within, giving the appearance of a stylised rooster.
This Pokémon is known as Melemele Island’s guardian god. It is renowned for defending its habitat, yet it is fickle and will not always assist those in need. It is, nevertheless, highly interested and may come to play or combat with humans or Pokémon that it finds interesting. It can store power by sealing itself within the shells on its arms. It has an explosive temper, but it quickly forgets what made it so angry in the first place.
Tapu Koko and the other guardian deities are the only Pokémon known to be able to learn the move Nature’s Madness. They are also the only Pokémon known to use the Z-Move Guardian of Alola.
