Ursaring #217
Biology
Ursaring is an ursine bipedal Pokémon. Except for its muzzle, inner ears, and paw pads, which are a light tan, its broad body is covered in brown fur. It has small, visible fangs in the upper jaw, narrow eyes, a triangular, black nose, and a wide mouth. Ursaring’s fur on the shoulders is longer and more structured, with rectangular extensions. Female Ursarings have longer fur on their shoulders than males. On its chest is a large, tan, ring-shaped mark. Ursaring has lengthy forelimbs with five claws apiece, while its rear legs are small and robust with three claws each. It has a big and spherical tail.
Ursaring lives in the mountains, sleeping in trees and collecting food all day. While it is adept at climbing trees, it forages for food by snapping them and gathering whatever berries or fruits fall to the ground. It will use its claws to designate trees carrying tasty fruit in its domain. Ursaring’s sense of smell can detect any fragrance, allowing it to locate food hidden deep underground or in streams. It will also look for food throughout the cold months, as seen in the Hisui area. Ursaring are said to be much more dangerous when they are hungry. Ursaring, as seen in the anime, is fiercely protective of its young and has been shown to become more aggressive during mating season. Ursaring may develop into Ursaluna if exposed to peat from Hisui’s Crimson Mirelands under a full moon.
