Vulpix is a quadrupedal canine Pokémon. It bears a reddish-brown fur with a cream underbelly. It features brown eyes, huge, pointed ears with dark brown insides, and a dark brown nose with a triangular shape. It has light brown paw pads and paws that are somewhat darker than the rest of its coat. It has three curled locks of orange hair with bangs on top of its head, as well as orange tails with curled tips. It most usually appears with six tails. Vulpix, on the other hand, is born with a single, white tail that separates as it develops. As it gets closer to evolution, the tails become hotter.

Vulpix has the ability to manipulate fire with such accuracy that he can generate floating wisps of flame. Humans often mistake these wisps for ghosts, but Vulpix utilizes them to help him capture prey. A never-ending flame burns throughout its flesh. When the outside temperature rises, it will spew flames from its mouth to save its body from overheating. Vulpix is known to pretend injury in order to flee from opponents that are too strong for it to overcome. Vulpix is most usually seen on grassy plains.

Vulpix has adapted to snowy mountain peaks and grown a snowy white coat in the Alola area. It has light blue paws and eyes, as well as dark blue insides of its ears. It has a more prominent and pointed snout than non-Alolan Vulpix. The strands of hair on its head and six tails are curlier and more wispy. Alolan Vulpix is said to have arrived in the area at the same time as humans, but chose to live on the snow-capped mountain to escape other Pokémon. It is found in tiny groups known as skulks, which are led and protected by Ninetales. Alolan Vulpix has the ability to exhale breath as cold as -58°F (-50°C), capable of freezing everything. While it is not adapted to hot regions, its tail may make ice to help cool the surroundings if necessary. This Pokémon was given the nickname “Keokeo” because of its white pelt. Alolan Vulpix’s natural predator is Weavile.

Trivia

  • Initially, Alolan Vulpix’s duty was “Hatch 7 Eggs.” A glitch prevented the shiny shape from appearing in the Research job. Niantic subsequently took down this Research.
    • After the problem was rectified, the job was adjusted to hatch only 5 eggs and re-released.
Only two days later, it was altered to hatch four eggs.
