Wobbuffet is a soft-bodied, tall blue Pokémon. It generally features wrinkled eyes and a jagged upper lip. The female Wobbuffet has a lipstick-like red marking on its mouth, whilst the male has not. It has four stubby legs at the base of its body and flat arms that are broader at the tip. On its black tail, there are two eyespots. In the Pokémon Stadium series, its eyespots are shown to be capable of blinking and glancing about with its tail. Wobbuffet is very protective of its tail, to the point that it will become unusually violent if it is injured.
Wobbuffet is a calm Pokémon that will never strike first. When struck, however, it will expand its body and launch a counter-attack. When two or more of these Pokémon meet, they will try to outlast each other in an endurance combat. However, since neither can attack, they may compete to determine who can go the longest without eating. Wobbuffet dwells in gloomy caverns because to its overprotective tendency for its tail and aversion of light.
Wobbuffet is part of a two-member family.
