Biology
Yveltal is a huge Pokémon with avian and draconic characteristics. The rear of its body is black, with white dots on the wings and back; the front, head, and neck are brilliant red, with branching, black lines running through them. It features a beak-like nose, brilliant blue eyes, a black forward-curving horn above each eye, and a slender, antenna-like protrusion behind each eye. A ruff of gray feathers encircles its neck and billows out over its back. Each wing of Yveltal has three spikes along the bottom edge towards the belly and five massive, black claws on the tip. It has bird-like legs with gray talons. Each foot has two toes that point forward and one that points backward. Its tail is built similarly to its wings, complete with five claws on the tip.
By expanding its wings and tailfeathers, Yveltal may absorb life force. When it approaches the end of its existence, it sucks the life force of everything around it before transforming into a cocoon and sleeping. Any living thing drained by Yveltal becomes petrified stone, as depicted in the anime. Yveltal may be highly spiteful and would want to harm anybody who interrupts its slumber. Its counterpart, Xerneas, has the ability to undo by infusing life force into the petrified victims, however this is not always the case, as shown in the anime.
Yveltal is the only Pokémon known to be capable of learning the move Oblivion Wing.
By leveling up, Yveltal is the only known Pokémon that can learn the move Focus Blast.
